OHS Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy
Seminole County Public Schools and Oviedo High School are committed to developing a 21st century learning environment where students and staff have access to technology that will enhance teaching and learning across content areas. We have developed a new electronic device policy, called Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), which will help us accomplish this goal. Students and staff can now access the wireless internet service on our campus with their personal devices such as, smart phones, tablets, and laptop computers. The use of personal electronic devices on the OHS campus is subject to the SCPS Acceptable Use Policy.
With classroom teacher approval, students may use their own devices to access the internet in class. Students will be subject to disciplinary action if they do not have teacher approval to use their personal devices during class time. Students will only be allowed to use their devices for educational purposes during class time. By allowing students to use their own technology on campus, we are hoping to increase the access all students have to the technology that they need to succeed.
The owner of the electronic device is responsible for ensuring that the device is safe and secure. Seminole County Public Schools and Oviedo High School are not liable or responsible for any theft, damage, or loss of any non-district device or the loss of any information on any such device.
