What's new?

We are on a pep rally schedule Friday, October 3rd when we play HHS! Go LIONS!

Fox 35 has once again selected OHS to be televised for the Game of the Week. The date is Friday 10/17/25 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Select student groups will be participating, and we will be televised out of the RWL.

Florida's New Bright Futures Legislation
Effective date: The law, enacted through House Bill 1105, is effective for students graduating during the 2025–2026 school year and after.

To qualify for a Florida Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) award via the AP Capstone pathway, you must earn the AP Capstone Diploma with a score of 3 or higher on AP Seminar, AP Research, and four additional AP Exams, and complete 100 hours of community service or paid work. This new pathway, effective for the 2025-2026 high school year and beyond, allows students to qualify for FAS without meeting the standard test score requirements.

AP Capstone Diploma Requirements
To earn the AP Capstone Diploma, you must:
  • Score a 3 or higher: on both the AP Seminar and AP Research exams.
  • Score a 3 or higher: on four additional AP Exams
  • Bright Futures FAS Requirements (AP Capstone Pathway)
To receive the FAS award using the AP Capstone pathway, you must also:
  • Complete 100 hours: of community service or paid work.
  • Earn the AP Capstone Diploma: by scoring a 3 or higher on AP Seminar, AP Research, and four additional AP Exams.

Exemption from Test Scores: This pathway provides an alternative to the traditional Bright Futures SAT/ACT test score and GPA requirements for the FAS award.
Not a High School Diploma: Earning the AP Capstone designation does not substitute for the requirements of a standard high school diploma.

At this time, AP Seminar and AP Research are not offered through SCVS or FLVS.

The one item that all seniors really would love to have is a yearbook. Many times we don't have enough extras at the end of the year and many seniors get left out of this amazing memory. Please make sure you order a yearbook at its least expensive price of $75. Yearbooks are on sale for $75 on www.yearbookforever.com. For parents of seniors, senior ad/shoutout pages are available on the site as well! Senior ads are due by October 31st!
