The Principal's Update

December 8, 2025

What's new?

Junior Dylan Calderyo earned 3rd place in the Central Florida Auto Dealers Association (CFADA) competition on Saturday, November 29th. The event was held at the Central Florida International Auto Show at the Orange County Convention Center.
The competition consisted of two parts:
• A written exam taken by about 100 hundreds of students
• A “hands-on” skills challenge for the top 20 scorers that lasted over 6 hours.
Dylan excelled in both rounds and finished 3rd overall out of the top 20 competitors.
Dylan has taken Auto 1, Auto 2, and now Auto 3, and we are extremely proud of his achievement and hard work.
Please join us in congratulating Dylan on this outstanding accomplishment!
Das

Congratulations to Ankan Das!

OHS sophomore, Ankan Das, was selected as a Semifinalist for the Columbia Junior Science Journal. One of our talented research students, Ankan Das, was named a semifinalist for publishing his work in the highly selective Columbia Junior Science Journal, a spinoff of the undergraduate journal published by Columbia University. His project introduces a novel mobile robot inspired by tensegrity structures, offering flexibility and resilience for hazardous environments like search-and-rescue missions. Unlike traditional bulky designs, this robot uses Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) springs to enable shape morphing and motion, demonstrating innovative engineering that could transform planetary exploration and disaster response.
