Chorus Shines at District MPA
Our Oviedo High School Chorus students participated in the District Music Performance Assessment, where three of our ensembles took the stage before a panel of adjudicators. Each group was evaluated on both their stage performance and sight‑reading proficiency—and they delivered outstanding results across the board.

Bravo earned Straight Excellents, the second-highest rating.
Bel Cantos and Horizons both achieved Straight Superiors, the highest possible rating.

Our students performed with skill, professionalism, and heart, representing OHS with true excellence. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and grateful for the dedication of our chorus directors who guide them each day.

The one item that all seniors really would love to have is a yearbook. Many times we don't have enough extras at the end of the year and many seniors get left out of this amazing memory. Please make sure you order a yearbook at www.yearbookforever.com. oviedianyearbook@gmail.com with any questions!

Dear Senior Parents,

The WROR TV team is excited to announce two ways to celebrate your senior in the WROR TV Senior Video that premieres before Senior Sunset in the auditorium and then plays before graduation at UCF. The video will be posted for free on May 13th here: https://oviedojournalism.com/2026seniorvideo/.

Photo Shoutout: Free
For a photo shoutout, please submit 4 photos of your student from across their childhood. This has been an Oviedo staple for senior video since its creation 30 years ago. This can be a great chance to celebrate (or playfully embarrass) your senior. Link for photo shoutout: https://forms.gle/63EdCRKNLLaJWhYv7. We design your slide for you. An example is on the form itself.

Video Shoutout: $15
For a premium and more personal shoutout, our video shoutouts return! For this, you film a 20 second video and shout out your senior directly. For previous year's examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMVGEU_9-qU (video tributes starts at 41:56). This is the link for video shoutout: https://forms.gle/S4JaTDkXnvZfDqkb9. More directions can be found on the form. As a fundraiser for WROR TV, Each video is $15 for inclusion paid via MySchoolBucks (https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/prdembd?ref=ZZI5ZOKY9Z04VE4_ZZ69N4GVSD9TEZ).

If you’re still waiting on your proof for your senior ad from the yearbook team, thank you for your patience. We are working hard to finish proofs by the end of the month. All senior ad space has been sold, and no additional spaces can be offered at this time. Thank you!

Teacher and Employee of the Week

Julie

Congratulations to our Teacher of the Week!

Teacher of the Week: Ms. Julie Athos

This week, we are proud to highlight Ms. Julie Athos for the profound and positive impact she is making in her classroom and on our campus.
We recently received a heartfelt message from a grateful Oviedo High School parent whose daughter is a junior and a student in Ms. Athos’s first‑period class. Her daughter has never been as excited for a first‑period class as she is this year. From the very first day, Ms. Athos created an environment where the student not only feels comfortable, but truly looks forward to starting her day. The student speaks constantly about Ms. Athos’ patience, kindness, personality, and engaging teaching style. She enjoys the class because of the teacher who leads it. For a student who has had difficulty connecting with teachers in the past, this connection is especially meaningful.
Her mother writes:

“You are definitely making a difference in students' lives, and my daughter is proof of that… THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! It warms my heart to see teachers who love teaching and make a real impact in students' lives.”

Ms. Athos exemplifies what it means to be an educator who inspires, uplifts, and ignites a love of learning. Her dedication is seen not only in her instruction, but in the way she makes students feel valued, supported, and excited to come to school. Please join us in celebrating Ms. Julie Athos—a shining example of the passion and heart that define Oviedo High School.
Todd

Congratulations to our Employee of the Week!

Mr. Simmons was nominated by a grateful parent who has witnessed firsthand the positive impact he makes on students and families. The parent shared that Mr. Simmons consistently demonstrates kindness, patience, and genuine compassion—qualities that make him an exceptional educator and role model.
As the Unified Basketball coach, Mr. Simmons works closely with students of varying abilities and backgrounds. He goes above and beyond to ensure that each student he counsels has a personalized schedule that supports their needs and helps them meaningfully participate in activities at OHS. His thoughtful planning and commitment make it possible for every student to feel included, supported, and successful.
