Congratulations!

OHS Programming Team Shines at UCF Tournament

We are excited to share another outstanding achievement from our Oviedo High School Programming Team. On Monday, March 16, 2026, seniors and sophomores from OHS competed in the 40th Annual University of Central Florida (UCF) High School Programming Tournament—one of the premier computer science competitions in the state.

Led by senior Brody Aysun and sophomores Dai Nguyen and Nhat Nguyen, our team spent four hours tackling a challenging set of algorithmic problems under intense time pressure. Out of 74 high schools from across Florida, Oviedo earned an impressive 9th‑place finish. This top‑10 ranking reflects the students’ strong analytical skills, collaboration, and perseverance in a highly competitive field.

A highlight of the day was reconnecting with OHS alumnus Caden Brock, who helped establish and grow our programming team during his years at OHS. Now a member of the UCF Programming Team, Caden continues to give back by encouraging and mentoring future competitors. Our students enjoyed catching up with him and seeing the long‑term impact of dedication and hard work.

This achievement is a testament to the continued growth of our computer science program and the support of our teachers, families, and alumni. I am incredibly proud of our students and grateful for the commitment that keeps Oviedo High School at the forefront of STEM excellence.

Coursework Completion Requirements & Credit Recovery
Seminole County Public Schools implemented new policies that started with the Class of 2024. The policy is in the Student Progression Plan regarding coursework completion dates and credit recovery. This change should have very little impact on the majority of our students, but it is important that everyone is aware of the policy that is the following.
• Seniors who fail a second semester course that is a graduation requirement may not begin the Credit Recovery course until Summer School.
• In order to participate in the graduation ceremony, seniors must have earned a high school diploma.
• All coursework, including Credit Recovery and Virtual School, must be completed no later than one week prior to graduation – Monday, May 11 by 3:00 p.m.

Seniors, our goal is for EVERY student to walk the stage at your graduation ceremony in May, and we are here to support you in achieving this goal. I encourage you to stay on top of every grade for every class, keep in constant communication with your teachers, and be sure to finish and submit all assignments and assessments. Let’s finish strong!

Sincerely,
Dr. Trent Daniel
