Important - Date Sensitive

Schedule Changes due May 15th

For the 2026-2027 school year Oviedo High School will only be able to accommodate course change requests from April 15th through May 15th. After May 15th students will not be able to change their course requests. It is imperative that you review the courses currently requested in Skyward NOW – both your elective choices and your core course recommendations from teachers - and verify that they are accurate before May 15th. If you would like to modify your requests, you must use the Google Request Change Form link that was provided, and submit it before May 15th.

Schedules released on August 1st, 2026 are final. We will no longer be offering schedule change requests prior to the start of school. Schedule changes will not be allowed until August 13th but only in extreme circumstances.

Katherine Hayes, president of the Health Therapists of the Future Club, organized a donation drive in conjunction with NHS for the Partin Elementary speech-language pathologist. Yesterday, we were able to deliver all of the donated items to Mrs. Trousdale, who was thrilled with the generous supply of materials.

🏆 Oviedo Now Online — Pacemaker Finalist for Innovation
The school's online news publication (oviedojournalism.com) was named one of only seven schools in the nation to receive this honor — among the most prestigious recognitions in scholastic journalism for our focus on diverse storytelling through our focus on sports journalism. This is our second Pacemaker finalist designation this calendar year. 

🥈 The Mane Idea — 2nd in the Nation, Magazine Best in Show
The school's sports magazine earned second place nationally in the Magazine Best in Show category.

🏅 The Oviedian (2025) — 4th in the Nation, Yearbook Best in Show
The 2025 yearbook received fourth-place national recognition in the Yearbook Best in Show competition.

The online news team received the Sunshine Standout, FSPA's highest honor for a student publication in Florida.

🌟 All Florida Awards
Both The Oviedian yearbook and the Oviedo Now Online news team received All Florida recognition.

🎙️ Gigi DeCesare — Florida Sports Journalist of the Year Finalist
DeCesare was named a finalist for the Florida Sports Journalist of the Year award.

📸 Shea Stacey & Gianna Fusco — Best of the Best, Mike Taylor Theme Package
Stacey and Fusco earned the state's top honor in the Mike Taylor Theme Package category for their work on the upcoming 2025–26 yearbook.

2025–2026 SCCPTA Annual Awards Ceremony 

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding recognition that Oviedo High School PTSA received this year!

🏆 Future Heroes Award
Awarded to one high school in Seminole County. This award highlighted our commitment to cultivating future leaders by actively engaging students on campus in meaningful ways. Thank you to Eric and Yasemin for leading and speaking at after-school coffee chats highlighting academics, student life, and campus life—this work reflects the heart of our mission.

A special highlight of this award was our partnership with the culinary program, where students bake cupcakes to give back—learning the value of service while helping fund senior scholarships.

Linda Lougee Community Service Award

April Agnew was selected as the recipient of the Linda Lougee Community Service Award and named Oviedo High School’s Adult Volunteer of the Year.

As PTSA President, April has consistently led with heart, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to putting students first. Through innovative, outside‑the‑box thinking—most notably with the school store—she helped guide our PTSA out of a financial challenge and into a stronger, more sustainable position. April’s positivity is felt in everything she does. From organizing raffles that keep our PTSA meetings engaging, to bringing joy to our campus through events like Kona Ice, she finds meaningful ways to build community and support student experiences.

Most importantly, April has dedicated countless hours to Oviedo High School. Her time, energy, and leadership have made a lasting impact on our students, staff, and families. Congratulations to April Agnew for her exceptional service and well‑deserved recognition!

Senior Dividend of the Year

Congratulations to Laurel Ross! She is our senior dividend of the year volunteer. Laurel helped OHS so much on SAC. Her effects will be long standing as she has been instrumental in the upgrades that have happened at OHS such as the road in front of the auditorium and additional sidewalk. Go Lions!

Senior Dates

Cap and Gown Questions? See Mr. Morgan

 •         Monday, May 11 – Seniors Last Day and Senior Video @ 6:00 p.m. in Auditorium and Senior Sunset @ 7:00 p.m. on the field (All coursework, including Credit Recovery and Virtual School, must be completed by 3:00 p.m.)
•         Friday, May 15 - Grad Practice @9:00 a.m. in Auditorium. (10 Graduation Tickets will be handed out after Grad Practice. Purchase extras for $5 Cash Only.) Followed by Senior Picnic hosted by PTSA from 11-1 at Round Lake Park. Lunch and games will be provided.
•          Monday, May 18 - Graduation @8:30 a.m. UCF – Doors open at 7:30 a.m.

Asher Huntley - Mr. Waisanen said, "Asher has a can do attitude and a willingness to help with anything needed. He is always positive and approaches tasks with enthusiasm and maximum effort."

Carla Chavez - Mr. Capi said, "Carla Chavez deserves to be Student of the Week because she consistently shows a positive attitude and strong work ethic in class. She is respectful, stays focused on her work, and sets a great example for her classmates."

Jacob Isler - Ms. Buckner said, "Jacob has been extremely helpful in helping out in the front office. Most importantly he is always willing to assist with incoming students. Jacob does a great job of making sure our new students come in with a sense of belonging."

Abril Biaggini Huerfano - Ms. Cuello said, "Abril shows up to class with a smile and a positive attitude each day. She views academic challenges as opportunities to improve. Her adaptability and academic resilience have been demostrated in her academic success. It is a pleasure to have her in class!"

Darya Yousefi - Ms. Clayton said, "Darya has shown remarkable growth throughout the year, consistently building her confidence and understanding in biology. She actively participates in class and is always kind and supportive toward her classmates, making our classroom a better place."

Johnnie Cobbs - Ms. DiPietro said, "Johnnie shows outstanding dedication to his academics and athletics; and continues to improve. His kindness toward peers and teachers; as well as steady perseverance truly make him stand out. He shows patience and compassion when working with students with disabilities, making sure they feel valued and included in all activities across school campus."

Congratulations to our Teacher of the Week!

Ryan Hennessy consistently went above and beyond to support the school during an especially demanding testing period. He willingly volunteered to assist with any testing needs that arose and became an invaluable member of the testing team. He was present for every testing session, arriving prepared, professional, and ready to help with proctoring and monitoring students. His flexibility, reliability, and positive attitude exemplified true teamwork, and his support made a significant difference during several hectic weeks of testing. Thank you!

Congratulations to our Employee of the Week!

Susie Manning manages Red Apple Dining and does an outstanding job ensuring that students, faculty, and staff are well fed each day. She is consistently positive, dependable, and solution‑oriented. Susie approaches challenges with a calm, “can‑do” attitude and is an excellent troubleshooter, always willing to step in and help when issues arise. Her dedication and positivity make a meaningful difference for our school community, and we are grateful for all she does.

We earned the highest A+ performance points among all traditional high schools in Seminole County Public Schools—second only to Crooms Academy, which is a magnet school. Our highest increase was 12% in college and career acceleration out performing all the high schools in SCPS.

🤝 #1 in PTSA Membership
Our Parent Teacher Student Association had the highest membership of any SCPS high school, showing the strength of our family-school partnership.

🏅 #1 in Seminole County SAC Athletics
Oviedo High led the county in SAC athletic achievements, a testament to our student-athletes’ hard work and our coaches’ commitment.
