What's New?

Lion Families,
On Wednesday, October 14, Oviedo High School will host a school-wide College and Career Readiness Day.
9th Grade Students
Ninth-grade students will participate in college and career exploration activities using the Xello platform through Clever. Students may:
  • Stay home and complete the activities outlined in the attached guide, including career exploration, resume building, college planning, scholarship research, and internship/job exploration. Students who participate from home will be field-tripped for the day.
  • Attend school and report to either the Old Gym or Auditorium for periods 1-4. They will then follow their regular schedule for periods 5-7.
10th & 11th Grade Students
Tenth- and eleventh-grade students will take the PSAT/NMSQT, providing valuable information for college planning, AP Potential, and scholarship opportunities.
After testing is complete, students may:
  • Return home and participate in the Xello college and career readiness activities for periods 5-7, or
  • Remain at school and follow their regular class schedule.
12th Grade Students
Twelfth-grade students will take the SAT, a key step in the college admissions process.

  • Remain at school and follow their regular class schedule.
Please keep an eye on your e-mail as more information will be sent about testing.

Homecoming Tickets

Homecoming tickets will go on sale September 14 through October 9 for $45 per ticket. Students may purchase tickets through MySchoolBucks and must meet the Oviedo High School attendance policy requirements to be eligible to attend the dance. We encourage students to review their attendance status and make plans to purchase tickets early, as all ticket sales will be completed through MySchoolBucks. Get ready for a great night of school spirit, memories, and Homecoming fun!

Seniors, what's Seminole State Decision Day? It's your chance to visit Seminole State College's Sanford/Lake Mary Campus, tour the campus, explore programs and career pathways, learn about financial aid, and discover how SSC's DirectConnect to UCF program can help you reach your college goals.
Whether you're planning for college, exploring career programs, or just weighing your options after graduation, this is a great opportunity to see what's possible.
Interested in attending? Complete the attached permission slip and return it to Mr. Simmons (1-003) by October 27th.
Come spend the day exploring opportunities, asking questions, and maybe even getting a glimpse of your future. We hope you'll join us!

October Booster Club Athletes of the Month: Golf

⛳ Boys Golf: Grayson Oldson

Congratulations to Grayson Oldson, our Boys Golf Athlete of the Month nominee! Although Grayson has been playing golf for only about a year and a half, his improvement has been remarkable. His strong work ethic, coachability, and determination have earned him a spot in the varsity lineup.

At the Titan Invitational, Grayson showed tremendous resilience, improving from an opening-round 88 to an impressive 80 the following day. More importantly, he brings a great attitude to the course, listens to coaching, asks questions, and continues competing no matter how the round is going.

Grayson’s enthusiasm for golf and commitment to improving make him a terrific representative of Oviedo Boys Golf. Congratulations, Grayson!

Congratulations to Brielle Drehoff, our Girls Golf Athlete of the Month nominee! As a freshman and new member of the team, Brielle has quickly distinguished herself through her leadership, effort, and positive attitude.

Brielle consistently arrives ready to work, encourages her teammates, and even shares helpful tips with others during practice. Despite the Florida heat and long days on the course, she always brings enthusiasm and excitement to the game.

Brielle’s team-first attitude and willingness to support those around her make her an outstanding representative of Oviedo Girls Golf. Congratulations, Brielle!

Congratulations to Mr. Capp, our Teacher of the Week! 

Mr. Capp demonstrated incredible school spirit last week, willingly jumping into several pep rallies and being an absolutely great sport while taking on his memorable role as the dreaded husky! Beyond his Lion spirit, Mr. Capp is a fantastic teacher who brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm to his classroom every day. He is animated, engaging, and always willing to go the extra mile to help his students succeed. His students love him, and we are fortunate to have him as part of the Oviedo High School family.

Employee of the Week

Congratulations to Jada Lingard, our Employee of the Week! 

Jada does an outstanding job as a member of our security team and plays an important role in keeping our campus safe each day. She is proactive in intervening when disagreements or issues arise, monitoring areas for unauthorized use, and staying alert to situations that need attention.

Jada is dependable, professional, and willing to step in wherever she is needed. This week, she is also participating in additional training to continue developing her skills and becoming even stronger in her role.

Jada, we appreciate your hard work, your commitment to our students and staff, and everything you do for Oviedo High School. Congratulations!
