Welcome to the inaugural Sunshine State Invitational, bringing together some of the nation’s premier high school volleyball programs for two days of high-level competition at Oviedo High School. Tournament Play begins on Friday, September 25 at 4:30pm and continues on Saturday, September 26 at 9:00am. Doors will open to all participating teams and spectators one hour prior to the first scheduled match each day. We look forward to welcoming athletes, coaches, families, and fans for a great weekend of competition and showcasing some of the best high school volleyball talent in the country!

Dates:

Friday, September 25 – Matches Begin @ 4:30pm, all teams play two matches
Saturday, September 26 – Matches Begin @ 9:00am, all teams play three matches

Doors will open for all teams and spectators one hour before the first scheduled match each day.
 

Location:

All matches will be played at Oviedo High School, 601 King Street, Oviedo, Florida 32765. We have two gymnasiums on our campus – our Competition Gymnasium with Courts 1 & 2 and our PE Gymnasium with Courts 3 & 4. For best parking and access, we recommend parking in the Back Parking Lot, off of Pine Street, by our Competition Gymnasium. 

There is bleacher seating available in both gyms. If your team is playing in the PE Gymnasium on Court 3 & 4, you are welcome to bring a portable chair to use along the wall opposite the bleachers. 

 

 

Event Tickets::
Tickets are available for purchase online at
GoFan. There will be no cash ticket sales. Single Day tickets are $15 + GoFan service fees and a Tournament Pass is $25 + GoFan service fees. Spectators will be given a wristband each day upon entry that allows re-entry in each gymnasium for that day. Doors will open for all teams and spectators one hour before the first scheduled match.

 

 

Sportsmanship & Conduct: 

All athletes, coaches, and spectators are expected to display good sportsmanship and respect towards officials, opponents, event staff, and fellow spectators at all times. Oviedo High School & Event Staff reserve the right to remove any individual whose behavior does not meet these expectations or disrupts the positive environment of the Sunshine State Invitational. 

 

 

Concessions & Tournament Shirts:
There will be concessions available in the lobby of our main competition gymnasium for the duration of the event. There will be a limited quantity of tournament t-shirts for sale in the concession stand as well. 

 

 

Tournament Awards:

The tournament champion will receive a trophy, banner, medals, and championship shirts. The tournament runner-up will receive a trophy, banner & medals.

 

 

All-Tournament Team:

There will be a ten-player All-Tournament team. The tournament champion will have the MVP plus two additional players for three total, the second-place team will have two players selected, the third and fourth place teams will each have one player selected. There will be three additional players selected from any team, regardless of place. Coaches will submit an All-Tournament Nomination Form at the conclusion of each match played in both pool play and bracket play. Each All-Tournament selection will receive a sweatshirt. 

 

Schedule & Seeding: 

All teams will play five matches. The tournament schedule will be released online in Advanced Event Systems by Friday, September 18. MaxPreps Rankings will be used for seeding with consideration & adjustments made to teams that play in the regular season. 

 

Tournament & Match Format:

All matches will be two out of three (25-25-15) with no cap. There will be four 4-team pools that advance into four 4-team brackets. All first-place teams from pool play will advance to the Gold Bracket, all second-place teams from pool play will advance to the Silver Bracket, all third-place teams from pool play will advance to the Bronze Bracket, and all fourth-place teams will advance to the Copper Bracket. All FHSAA & NFHS rules will be followed.

 

 

Tie Breakers: 

At the conclusion of a pool, the pool finish positinos of the teams are determined by their pool match records. No tie breakers sets will be played. If there is a tie in match record among two teams in the pool, ties will be broken based on head-to-head results. If there is a tie in match record among three teams in the pool, ties will be broken by set percentage first, followed by point percentage.

 

Officiating:

There will be a paid R1 & R2 on every court. Oviedo High School JV & Freshmen players will work the table and lines for all matches. Your team does not need to officiate any matches. Please respect our officials at all times and help us maintain a positive compeitive environment by demonstrating good sportsmanship through the tournament. 

 

 

Warm-Up Balls: 

Warm-up balls will be provided on each court. There will be one ball cart with 15 balls per court. Please do not remove the warm-up balls from their designated court. Spectators should not use the volleyballs at any time. 

 

Team Areas, Coolers & Tables: 

When off, all teams are welcome to congregate in any area of the gym or courtyard available. We ask that you do not block walkways. Coolers must be left outside. No tables should be setup in the gym due to the limited space. 

 

Athletic Trainer:

There will be an athletic trainer available for the duration of the tournament along with several student trainers in each gym. If your athlete needs to be taped, please bring your own supplies. 

 

Tournament Staff & Admin:

There will be a championship desk in each gym with a tournament staff member. There will also be an administrator in the lobby of each gymnasium. All Oviedo High School Coaches will also serve as tournament staff and administrators.
